Jump(suit) For Joy!

Posted on

I love a great jumpsuit. Really LOVE! I think they’re so easy, effortless and chic–minus the fact they are quite awkward in the ladies’ room. I pinned this image from uberblogger Peace Love Shea more than a year ago and am still obsessed with it! While her look is not actually a jumpsuit, it certainly looks like it could be and it made me want one in this cut!

The problem with jumpsuits (for me) is the length and the price. As much as I love them, it’s so hard for me to find them long enough in my pricepoint. I’ve tried to recreate Shea’s look on more than one occasion. My version may not be a complete success, but eh…you work with what ya got! I paired black slacks and top with a gold plate-front belt. If you don’t have a jumpsuit, I highly recommend going monochromatic to give the illusion of one!

Then when I finally found a jumpsuit long enough, it wasn’t the wide leg look I longed for. But it was only $20 at my local Marshall’s so I couldn’t pass it up. I paired it with the same belt and added coordinating Steve Madden heels–forgive the selfie, this is a pic from Instagram.

When my no-shopping challenge is over, another jumpsuit is definitely on my must-buy list! I’ll be searching high and low for a wide leg one that is more work appropriate. I actually came across another blogger’s Facebook post  (The Classy Cubicle) on work-appropriate jumpsuits. Through comments, she told me her post featured jumpsuits at a wide range of prices. I was excited…until I clicked the links! I’ve long discovered other people’s idea of “budget friendly” don’t always match mine. On her post, there was only one that was about $50 and most of the others were well over $100! That may be affordable for her professional demographic, but it’s still too rich for my blood! So, I made it my mission to find some that are more on my playing field. The following jumpsuits are all $50 or less!

Here’s a great one from H&M-so chic and easy…and $39.95!

hmjumpShe Inside had a couple of super cute options as well, like this beautiful Green Sleeveless V-Neck Jumpsuit for only $21.67! I have never purchased anything from this site, but I’ve heard mostly good things. The reviews for both of the She Inside jumpsuits I’m featuring are well-received overall!

This is another She Inside score: Navy V-Neck Tie-Waist Belted Jumpsuit for $26.99! she inside

I found a few on the Dorothy Perkins website as well. This one is Blush and Black Jumpsuit on sale for $44.

The Black Crinkle Fabric Jumpsuit is on sale for $21! What a steal!

DPJUMP2 And one of my favorites! The Mulberry T-shirt Jumpsuit…also on sale for $21!

Also, keep in mind, there are plenty of jumpsuits out there that may have spaghetti straps that would be completely work appropriate with a blazer! I tried pairing a blazer with my current jumpsuit, but the cut didn’t work well with the harem-style bottom. I think it would be beautiful with a straighter leg or wide leg. If you haven’t jumped on the jumpsuit bandwagon, now is definitely the time–they haven’t been hotter!

I have not tried a jumpsuit yet! I always worry that I’m too short for them…and it would just make me look shorter.

P.s. because it’s all one color typically, jumpsuits can actually have a lengthening effect! I’d love to know if you end up trying one!
