I didn’t get to watch the Golden Globes, but I made sure I caught some red carpet coverage. I always love reading other people’s fashion recaps and, this year, I decided to do my own! Plus, my Golden Globes faves on Instagram last year was my top-liked pic of 2015 (with over 1k likes!), so I figure I have some credibility. ha!
My favorite look had to be Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton. She was the first actress I saw when I tuned in and my initial thought was gorgeous! Then I thought, but wait, does it look too much like a fancy apron? But then I thought, who cares?! That is the hottest apron I’ve ever seen! and I would wear it in a heartbeat if I were her size! I loved the ruffles, the pleats, the sheer panels, the cross-back, the hint of side boob. It all worked for me!
Next, I was loving Zendaya in Marchesa! She is so flipping tall and skinny and this dress was absolutely perfect for someone of her 5’10” stature. Seriously, you can’t be 5’2″ and pull this off. And I usually say anyone can wear anything if the proportions are right. Plus, when my daughter saw her, she said “That’s KC Undercover!” and had such a bright-eyed look of excitement. I was just glad Zendaya gave my kids something to relate to during a show they would normally vomit at watching.
I was also loving me some Jenna Dewann in Zuhair Murad. First, I’m pretty obsessed with anything Zuhair Murad does, and second, Jenna is just such a stunner and I always love seeing what she’ll wear on the red carpet. Good thing her husband is an A-lister, or else she probably wouldn’t have any reason to dress up. Just sayin’. Sidenote: google Channing Tatum’s hair. It was ridic.
I didn’t see Judith Light on screen, but I saw her as I scrolled through red carpet photos. I seriously had to do a double take/scroll back because the silhouette was so different and fresh and she looked amazing! Who knew a cummerbund could look so chic?! I know the suit is kind of been there/done that, but her ivory version is a breath of fresh air so I gotta give props to the woman I remember most from Who’s the Boss?!
I also loved me some Rachel McAdams in Lanvin. Can someone please tell, Kim K this is how you do formal florals? I love anything that stands out in a good way. The hair, the lips. perf! Plus, her date was the Boston Globe reporter she portrayed in the Golden Globe nominated film Spotlight. I just love her!
I also felt like Kirsten Dunst in Valentino deserved a spot. When I saw her step onto the red carpet all I could think was bazunga! Don’t ask what that means, but if you look at the cleavage, you’ll know it doesn’t require a definition. She definitely has the decolletage to pull this off. Can’t say I’m not jealous of that!
And I know it must be harder for the more “seasoned” actresses to pull off exciting red carpet looks, so I have to hand it to the dame herself: Helen Mirren. I know older women tend to cover their arms, so I love how she was able to incorporate the sheer shoulders to add a bit of sex appeal. And it fit her like a glove!
Awards season is one of my favorite times of the year when it comes to fashion and I can’t wait to see what shows up on the red carpet for the SAG Awards and Oscars! Who were your favorites at the Golden Globes?
